BIG DREAMS

Grant brought in his lights-and-sirens fire truck to play with.
"I like firefighters!" he said.
"I like firefighters! Someday I be firefighter....
but not today."

GRANT-ISMS

As I was driving home the other day, Grace and Grant were drawing pictures with tablets and markers, talking and entertaining themselves.  Grant correctly counted from 1 to 10. I pointed out to Gracie what Grant had done and he started counting again but Grace started talking so he stopped.  I asked her to hold on for a minute so we could hear him count again.  He didn't start counting so I said, "Grant, can you count from 1 to 10?"  "Yes," he said.  "1 .. 10."  Grace and I started laughing so he joined in.  Finally he said, "Siwwy me.  Siwwy me."

At 3:15 this morning, a handsome fella crawled into bed with me.
He had blond hair, blue eyes, and two cold feet that
felt like ice cubes and that he stuck right under my legs.
Hey, snuggles are rare and precious
so I'll take them anyway I can get them!

OUR ADVENTURER CAN COLLECTING

Our church youth programs, Adventurers and Pathfinders,
have a long-standing tradition of collecting canned food in the fall
for distribution of food baskets during the holidays.
Gracie could hardly sleep last night,
she was SO excited about going for the first time.

Gracie is ready to go can-collecting
for the very first time!

I like can-collecting!

I walked four miles!

I can't believe I walked four miles!!!!

Great job, Adventurers and Pathfinders!!!
Thanks for your hard work!

I REMEMBER...

I remember reading Arty the Smarty to my baby sister Lori when she was about 3 years old. Then Arty came to my house and I read it many, many times to my girls. Now I'm reading Arty to my grandchildren. The classics really are timeless!

OVERHEARD FROM THE GRANDCHILDREN

Gracie was pushing Grant and Darren on the glider swing
in the backyard. She counted with each push, "1..2..3..4..5.."
Darren called out, "Ready or not, here we come!!!"

Darren and Grant were playing with cars
on the living room floor.
As I came in the room, I cleared my throat (allergies!!).
Grant said, "I heard dat. What is dat? Hmm.
I think maybe it's a  - - crocodile."

Riding in the double-wide stroller around the block,
Darren and Grant were talking and giggling together.
Darren looked at Grant and said,
"We best friends."
Grace, Grant and Darren say HELLO
from the little backyard pond at Darren's new house.

SEEN & HEARD FROM THE STROLLER

The boys are sitting side-by-side in the double-wide stroller.
Grant is looking at Darren.
DARREN:  "No. Don't look at me, Dant."
GRANT:  "Why?"
DARREN:  "No. Don't look at me, Dant."
GRANT:  "Why?"
DARREN: "No. Don't look at me, Dant."
GRANT: "Why?
DARREN: "No. Don't look at me, Dant."
GRANT: "Why?"
I'm not kidding. This is how the conversation went. [sigh] 2 year olds!

MEET MR. FIX-IT

GRANT
He loves to fix things,
especially if screwdrivers or hammers are involved.
And don't even get him started on batteries!
He loves replacing them.
He'll even try to replace them
on things that don't use batteries!

He's also Mr. Baseball-Golf-Basketball-Soccer..
Anything With a Ball!
You've never seen a toddler who can
throw, hit, or catch like this one.
Talk about a natural!

He's crazy about driving.
"Drive, drive, drive, drive!"
You hear that chant until you give in
and give him the keys.

Mr. Fisherman loves to fish!

He LOVES his big Sissy!

He and Grace are fans of Curious George.
(I think he relates to a little monkey
whose curiosity gets him in trouble!)

Mr. Outdoors LOVES to be outside.  And he LOVES the water.

He's a little bit of a dare devil with an adventurous spirit.

Now that you've met Mr. Fix-it/Baseball/Fisherman/Outdoors,
do you have a sense that he is a man of many passions?
That's Grant!
He experiences life intensely and goes for the gusto!
His adventurous spirit is contagious
and he'll be glad to have you along for the ride
if you'd like to come!
Can you resist that smile?
